ECOS

ECOS is a space to reflect on the choices that shape our lives. To celebrate the ones creating the lives we want and to work through the ones that aren't.

I host it as a small gathering of about 40 friends in places that change the quality of attention. When you step out of routine and into nature, you notice different things. You speak differently. You remember what matters.

ECOS is also a literal acronym. It stands for Explore, Connect, Orient, Share, the four principles that act as the compass of the experience. And it is a nod to oíkos, the Greek word for home. The goal is not escape. It is to return home with better judgment.

Explore is about widening the frame. New terrain, new activities, and enough novelty to shake loose old patterns.

Connect is about presence. Less noise, more attention. Time built for real conversation and real friendship.

Orient is about understanding where you are. The land, the local story, the ecology, and the context that makes a place what it is.

Share is about contribution. Everyone brings something. A skill, a question, a practice, a story, a perspective. No spectators.

Those four principles are the compass. The symbol we use is a conifer cone, a quiet reference to the long history of the pinecone as a metaphor for perception and inner orientation. It is a reminder that this is an experience about how we see, not just what we do.

We have done ECOS since 2018 in Costa Rica, British Columbia, Texas, and Idaho. The locations change. The intent stays constant: high trust, high context, and a design that makes it easier to be present.

Most of life is shaped by the choices we make while in perpetual motion.

ECOS is a designed pause. A temporary home where you can look at your life with clarity, with people who are rooting for you, and with enough distance from normal life to actually adjust course.

The outcome I value is simple. You leave more connected to yourself, more connected to your people, and more capable of making choices that match the life you say you want.
